A Message From The President
When I was going into my first semester as a college student at WIU, I was set up to be roommates with my good buddy from back home. Within the first couple weeks of school he dropped out and I didn’t really know many other people. I slowly became good friends with the guys on my floor in the dorm but I wanted something more. When second semester came around I decided to look into joining a fraternity on campus. When I was an incoming freshman I never had the thought of joining one. So I decided to go to the activity fair held by WIU to check some of the fraternities out. I was handed multiple flyers for different organizations to join. I went to some rush events for different ones and met people from each one. But only one fraternity in my eyes seemed like they were close with each other and actually cared about one another and knew how to have a great time. And that was Theta Xi. I continued to attend their rush events throughout the upcoming weeks and realized this was the organization I wanted to join. I saw that the men of theta xi were great guys who cared for each other, messed around with one another, knew how to have a great time but at the same time knew how to handle their academics and pass their classes. I was offered an invitation to join theta xi and I joined my second semester of my freshman year back in 2016. My one regret about joining is that I didn’t join sooner. Theta xi has helped me so much over the past few years and has taught me a lot. I’ve gained so many connections through this organization that will help me when I graduate. I was also able to gain some responsibility through the organization and learn how to become a leader. After a few years of doing smaller jobs in the fraternity such as being the scholarship chair (the person responsible for everyones grades), I have become the president of Theta Xi. Being held responsible by a group of people helps you become a better person as well as a better student and worker. Joining Theta Xi has been the best decision I’ve ever made, and as I’m coming very close to graduation I wish I could go back and do it all over again for all the great memories, friends and brothers I have made. Joining this organization helps set you up for life once you graduate and helps you reach all your goals.
